SISKIYOU MOUNTAIN CLUB ************
MISSION:
Siskiyou Mountain Club is a 501(c)(3) public charity formed to restore, maintain, and promote primitive trails in the Siskiyou backcountry and beyond. We coordinate stewardship projects with volunteers, staff, and interns; publish maps and outdoor information, and lead service-adventure for the public.
WHAT WE DO:
"Long live the backwoods trails"
We coordinate with staff, volunteers, interns, and other partners who do the hard work it takes to keep trails from disappearing from the remote corners of Southwest Oregon and Northwest California. They participate in trips of varying lengths and put the labor in to keep our trails alive.
HISTORY:
We started in 2010 as a small group of volunteers determined to restore a single route through the infamous Kalmiopsis Wilderness Area. Since then we’ve become the area’s only organization dedicated to wilderness and trail stewardship. We are leading the way to preserving the most threatened trails throughout Southwest Oregon and Northwest California.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT:
We work in the ancestral lands of the Karuk, Yurok, Shasta, Modoc, Tolowa Dee-ni’, Takelma, Chit-dee-ni (Chetco), Cow Creek Umpqua, and Tutuni societies, and we acknowledge the nuance of wilderness ethics and that wilderness is a white social construct.

I am so grateful for the invaluable work of SMC interns and staff. Many thanks to the 2023 interns for your excellent work on Northern California and Southwest Oregon trails that we all get to enjoy. May this summer's experience serve you all in great ways in your future. Long live the backwoods.
A great organization that makes major contributions to the local environment. Thx.
The Siskiyou Mountain Club intern program, mission, trail restoration and maintenance, maps, activities, and trips offer valuable opportunities and perspectives for all who participate!
Many thanks, SMC for all the excellent work you continue to share with your interns, members, and the trail community at large. I love your maps and trails! Extra thanks for promoting 'Leave-No-Trace' in all you do.
I love exploring...! A great outcome every time. Always adventurous! Beautiful as well.
Siskiyou Mountain Club...They rock. If it weren't for them, what would those trails be like?
Siskiyou Mountain Club - June 2023 17 interns from across the country came to Southwest Oregon to participate in our Wilderness Conservation Corps trail crew.
Each year a crew of interns hail from across the U.S. to serve a term on Siskiyou Mountain Club's Wilderness Corps. Here are some shots from the crew's first training hitch in the Red Buttes Wilderness Area.
